The OPTIMOD 5950 HD

FM & DAB+/HD-1/HD-2 Radio Audio Processor

Based on the popular OPTIMOD 5950 processor, the 5950 HD provides FM/HD1 processing and includes a second independent processing chain called HD2. It comes in a compact 1 RU design, is equipped with a high-resolution touch display, and can be controlled remotely via any HTML5 web browser.

OPTIMOD 5950 HD is equipped with analog, AES3, composite and digital MPX as well as AES67/SMPTE-ST2110 inputs and outputs includes advance audio routing and Diversity Delay and can easily be integrated in any studio and transmitter environment. Additionally, optional μMPX allows a cost-effective transmission of digital MPX signals over IP.

The FM section offers four processing structures which can be selected depending on the user’s application and requirements: Five-Band, Low-Latency Five-Band, Ultra-Low-Latency Five-Band and Two-Band.  It also features the legendary Orban MX limiter which provides increased apparent loudness at significantly lower distortion.

An intelligent two-band window-gated AGC using Orban’s proprietary “master / bass” band coupling controls the levels subtly and unobtrusively. Where three kinds of stereo enhancement, an advanced EQ section, Enhancers and extensive kind of other parameters are available to create a signature sound.

The “True Peak” limiter in the two HD processing chains anticipates and controls peak levels following D/A conversion, a feature now required by many broadcasters.

The defeatable ITU BS.412 Multiplex Power Controller constrains MPX power smoothly and reliably, ensuring compliance in countries that regulate it.

OPTIMOD 5950 HD provides ITU-R BS.1770-4 Loudness Control which facilitates compliance with modern target loudness recommendations like EBU R128 for each processed FM and HD output source if needed.

Multiple audio input and output sources can be monitored via the front panel headphone output and the optional IP Monitoring Streaming Encoder.

The optional Internal Audio Backup player or IP Audio Backup decoder can be used as one of the emergency fallback scenarios, but it can also be used as a main Streaming Input source like HLS

OPTIMOD 5750 HD supports SNMP v2 and Ember+ protocol and Remote Control Interface for professional monitoring purposes and has dual power supplies with independent AC line inputs provide redundant operation to ensuring maximum uptime.

The 5750 HD is available now.

• Six Processing Structures: Five-Band, Low-Latency Five-Band, Ultra-Low Latency Five-Band, Two-Band, Five-Band MX and Two- Band MX.

• Window-Gated AGC: Intelligent two-band window-gated AGC controls levels subtly and unobtrusively.

• RDS/RBDS: Onboard generator supports dynamic PS scrolling and IP access, includes UECP.

• Factory Presets: Like all OPTIMODs, the 5950 HD also comes with a variety of factory presets; Orban’s exclusive “Less-More” control simplifies creating your own signature sound.

• AES67/SMPTE ST-2110: Dual redundant network interfaces are available for AES67/SMPTE ST-2110 Audio-over-IP connections (Dante or RAVENNA).

• Remote Control/Monitoring: OPTIMOD 5950 HD can be configured and controlled via any HTML5 web browser. It also supports the SNMP v2 protocol, Ember+ and SSH.

• “True Peak” Limiter: The oversampled “True Peak” limiter in the digital processing path anticipates and controls peak levels following D/A conversion, a feature now required by many broadcasters.

• ITU BS.412 Multiplex Power Control: The defeatable “dual speed” Multiplex Power Controller constrains MPX power smoothly and reliably, ensuring compliance in countries that regulate it.

• ITU-R BS.1770-4 Loudness Control: This facilitates compliance with modern target loudness recommendations for FM and Digital Media.

• Diversity Delay: A multifunctional adjustable delay can be inserted in the FM and/or digital path to ensure time-alignment of the FM and HD Radio/ DAB+ signals at the receiver.
